FAQ

Ask A Question:
How long does it take to build a website?
As with pricing, the time it would take depends totally on the size of the project. As well as this factor, the time taken also depends on how promptly the client-side deliverables are transferred to us, if we need information in order to start certain areas of your project it would be impossible for us to complete the project on time without that information from you. As a general guide, our projects typically take 1 to 3 months to complete including contract negotiation time.
What size projects do you work on?
QuickSilver Creations was created to allow small businesses access to services that would otherwise be unaffordable. We pride ourselves on being able to provide top-quality products at an affordable rate. Although we have no limit (large or small) to the size of our projects, our average price is usually between £100 and £1000.
How much do your services cost?
We are constantly reviewing our pricing structure to keep our fees down, however we can't possibly give a general figure for our services because it depends totally on the amount of work being undertaken, and the services being employed. We are more than happy to discuss pricing openly with no obligation, so please feel free to request a quote through our contact page
What is a domain name?
To get a website on the internet, you need two things, the first is a domain name, the second is hosting (see below). The domain name is what people type into the address bar when they want to access a website (e.g. www.quicksilvercreations.com), that address is then used to find where the website is located and transfer the data to your computer for viewing.
What is web hosting?
As well as a domain name (see above), hosting is an essential aspect of getting a website on the internet. When you buy a domain name, you have bought the right to use that name to access your website, but you still need somewhere to put your site so that it can be accessed, this is what hosting is. Web hosting companies have a bank of computers known as 'servers' which are constantly turned on and connected to the internet, they have websites stored on them so that people can access them 24/7. When you type in a URL (domain name) into the address bar, the URL is used to find which server the site is stored on and downloads it temporarily to your computer for viewing.
Do you provide hosting?
Yes, we can provide both shared and dedicated hosting through United Hosting. The pricing of our hosting packages depend on the size of the hosting and the level of maintenance required of us.
Do we have to stay with you for future developments?
No, we give all our clients the right to modify and maintain all work we produce for them once the contract has been fulfilled. This means you are not tied to QuickSilver Creations after we have completed the project, and are free to host your website or continue development elsewhere.
Do you offer Content Management Systems?
Yes, but unlike other web design companies we won't force our clients to purchase a content management system (CMS) if they do not believe they need one. Many of our clients will prefer to spend less on the site and simply build a static web site. We also offer different versions of our CMS depending on our client's budget. For information and pricing, please contact us.
What is the Disability Discrimination Act?
The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) has been brought into effect as of 2004 to allow users with disabilities to view websites more easily.
The DDA states that websites must comply to (at least) all the Priority 1 checkpoints stated in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 created by the W3C.
All of the websites created by QuickSilver Creations comply to these checkpoints where appropriate.
